THE UCSB CTST1 USERS' FACILITY

This facility offers the opportunity to conduct scientific research with the UCSB Free Electron Lasers (FELs). These generate far-infrared (FIR) radiation spanning wavelengths from 2.5 mm to 330 µm (MM-FEL) and 330 µm to 63 µm (FIR-FEL) with unique radiation characteristics including coherence, tunability, and kilowatt power levels. A near diffraction limited radiation beam is delivered to any of 13 ports by a vacuum optical transport system. Various conventional lasers and other ancillary instrumentation are available.
