This FEL occupies a third position in the 6 MV
beam switchyard and is designed to extend the range of available wavelengths to 30 µm. It can achieve this at the
relatively low 6 MV beam energy by lasing on the third harmonic.
STATUS -- Under development
19-Jan-97 -- End sections have been bored out to improve beam transport and new higher quality resonator mirrors have been
fabricated. The south end section awaits reassembly. Work is being carried out on a low priority basis.
12-Mar-96 -- 12 Watts @ 42 µm wavelength measured in users' lab (40 W at diagnostic box)
23-Aug-95 -- Lased on third harmonic for first time at 50 µm wavelength but did not reach saturation.
